ATHENS Pope John Paul arrived in Athens on Friday at the start of a six-day trip to retrace the steps of St. Paul in Greece, Syria and Malta, Reuters said. The pontiff's Piazza Dei Miracoli -- the square of miracles -- Airbus 321 touched down at new Athens International Airport at approximately 0820 GMT. The Pope's visit to Greece has sparked controversy in the predominantly Orthodox country, where conservative believers blame the Roman Catholic Church for the Great Schism of 1054 divided Christianity into Eastern and Western branches.
